SUPER-HEROIC-BROTHER-IN-LAW

Hahaha... it seemed that my brand new bro-in-law is a bit unhappy i did not mention him in my flood story (read his comment if u don't believe me ^_^) just kidding. well... actually he was the one who had all the guts to drive the Kembara through the water while my sister prayed all the way. She prayed really hard and LOUD! hahaha... I was busy typing sms on my phone *wink* Thanks Abang Ngah... So now everyone knows u really are a SUPER-HEROIC-BROTHER-IN-LAW who came to my rescue during the flood... Just like Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers

Hei Red, Stop with all those shoppings already... I'm afraid that U and shah will end up buying the whole KLCC! Have u finished the project?

p/s : that's my SHBIL with my dear sis... cute couple huh!

FINALLY I'M DOWN

There were many things had been done and still needed to be done till the end of the year. The lists seems to be endless. I was busy with the so called 'big project' since the starting of the month and still struggling to complete it as it needed to be 'closed' at the end of the year. I was also busy planning, organizing, preparing and making sure my beloved sister's wedding sail smoothly without a hitch (It was not an easy task as she is a very sensitive and demanding lady ^_^ sorry kak!) During the wedding itself I was running here and there settling any matters needed to be settled (be it trivial or serious).
Then... there's a matter the great big flood which hit the town unexpectedly. I was almost stranded at the other side of town, but luckily my sister was there. So we went through the rising water (which scared me silly as I can feel the water against the Kembara's door) We were surrounded by water which almost submerged the tyres. Alhamdulillah... we got to the other side safely. However we were stranded in the middle for three days as the town was badly flooded.
Then... there's a matter of finding our way out to KL as there was going to be a wedding reception for my sister at the groom's house. It semed hopeless for us as all the way out were cut off. After sending dozens of sms around to friends asking for clear route to Kl we managed to find a way out. We went to KL via the Segamat -Kuantan, Bahau - Seremban, Senawang - KL route. It took us almost 6 hours to reach my brother's house in Cheras (Normally it takes only 3 hours) it's like a trip from the south up north. After enjoying ourselves in KL, again dozens of sms were sent to find a clear way back to Segamat.
Then... there's a meeting needed to be attended. Once I went around town, the place looked as if it was strucked by a minor tsunami. There were debris and rubbish all over town. The buildings and roads were also damaged. Cars were lining up outside workshops waiting for their turn to be repaired (they were 'drowned' in the flood *wink*)
And finally I got the big prize...
I was down with fever for 2 days. I kept on vommitting for the whole night. Due to that I had no chance to revise for my so called 'exam'. I went into the exam hall, answered all the questions, went out and hope for the best.

* check out more photos of flood in Segamat in the link.

WORST FLOOD EVER

It was a shocked to people in Segamat as we are suddenly facing the worst flood ever since 1950s. The water level rose within 2 hours in most residential areas near town causing many to be evacuated. The new town centre is also badly flooded where all the 4 major shopping centres were affected. Water rose submerging both bridges in Segamat. Unexpected places were flooded in just a couple of hours, Leaving the residents hopeless as they are not prepared for it. Most wre unable to save their belongings as the water rose unexpectedly. All route out of the town are cut off. People here are unable to go out. Most are stranded because they can't go home or out. People in Segamat Baru and Bandar Putra are also cut off from the outside world as both route to KL and JB are badly flooded. Hopefully the food supply here will be enough until the water level subsided.

I'LL DO MY BEST

I'm still trying to hold up with everything that is happening this month. Hopefully I'll manage to go through everything without a scratch. But, I'm a little scared to start my class. It's been almost 7 years since I last went to UM. I bet a lot of things had changed since I left it in 1999. I was supposed to do my master 2 years back but due to a few problems I had to postpone my plan. I'm just glad that finally I have the chance to go through with it, though I'm scared. Regardless of what'll happen I will try to go through the years of studying ahead the best I can. I'll pray to god, I can go through the lectures, course works, exams and also the frequent 3 hours journey with patience and determination. I know everyone will be praying for me to...

LOVELY PAIR

Went to a friend's wedding last saturday with Shah & Red. Glad that I can still remember the way to her house in BP. Luckily I managed to drive there without any problems. I can't describe what I felt when I saw her in her wedding finery standing beside her brand new husband *sigh* I think both of them look very compatible together. Way 2 go girl! hahaha... But... being Uyean, she was still the same eventhough it was her wedding. We managed to spare some time gossiping about a lot of things with the bride. CONGRATULATIONS Uyean.

That night Shah & I took Red out for dinner and a brief tour around our 'little' town. I'm happy that another friend of mine was here in my hometown.

FINALLY... SHE'S A BRIDE

December is here. December is filled with great anticipation 4 our family. We're expanding *wink* we'll officially get a new member in the family on the 16th. My sis is getting married. Finally!! the path 2 marriage is cleared 4 me. (We believe it's not good 2 get married before ur elder sister) hahaha... as if I'm going 2 jump into marriage straight away. I can't use her as an excuse of not getting married anymore. I'll just let my dear relatives shower me with the milion dollar question, "When R U getting Married?"
My answer will always be the same,"let's wait 4 another 2 years"

So far everything is going just as planned. Hopefully things will sail smoothly during the wedding. Wish the 2 of U a great and Happy marriage.

Jaja - Congratulations on ur wedding. sorry can't make it 2 ur wedding. My sis is getting married on the same day.

Uyean - Congratulations. I'm very happy 4 u.

A VERY QUICK TRIP

After 6 months of resisting Kl traffics, finally I'm back on KL roads. It feels good as i didn't get stuck in any jams. But... it was the quickest trip to KL ever. Thanks to dad and his mood swing! (If he's in KL he'll have a terrible mood swing) Maybe because we did get stuck in traffic at the Pedas-Linggi highway, for less than 5 minutes ( they closed 2 lanes out of 3). But dad's mood changed on the spot! Instead of sleeping over for a night (that was the original plan), he insisted of going back in the afternoon. We went to Kl to visit mum's brother. My hope to enjoy a shopping spree in Jalan Tuanku and Mydin was crushed!
As mum and Dad went to TTDI (Abang took over the task of being their chauffer) I played a while with my 9 months niece and slept for an hour (I was woken up at 5.30 a.m and departed to KL at 6.15 a.m).
Back from TTDI, dad was anxious to get back home and mum was reluctant to leave. She wanted to spend more time with Nana, Wafiy and baby Sarah. Me??? I just refused to get involve in their silent war.

The Result!?

We were back south at 6.00 p.m. Dad drove all the way back and I slept at the back ^_^

IT'S OK 2 FALL...

‘It’s Okay to Fall in Love’, simple to be understood but very difficult to be interpreted.
Love comes from the soul. Love can give peace, serenity and tranquility. Love is can give us luxury and comfort in the heart and life. Love can be seen as light. It brightens our life day and night.

How do we define the meaning of love?

Many people who meet, are attracted to each other and fall in love, but not all live happily ever after. Why?
Is it because they are confused of what is the real meaning of love.

1. love our god. We must love our merciful god as he bestows upon us the chance to live and breathe in this world.

2. love our life. Life is a responsibility that must be appreciated by everybody. We are responsible with what happens to our life.
3. love others. Love is a part of our nature. love is infinite. there will always be more space in our heart to love. We'll always be happy when we give and receive love.

When you love someone, you will value that person highly. You will also place her or his well-being as your highest priority.

Is there such thing called true love? Is there love at a first sight?

Is it true , when you give love, you experienced strength, joy and aliveness?

Those who give their love are bestowing others the most precious gift they have to offer; their joys, their understanding and their love for life. To them, these things are more valuable than money, yet they are willing to give them freely.

Love is beautiful. By giving love, they enrich other’s life with the same joy, aliveness and understanding. So, by giving love, people automatically receive love in return, though at times they give it unintentionally.
As Nat King Cole said” The greatest thing we ever learn is to love and give love in return"

From the moment we are born, nature provides us with the security of a mother’s love. Without that love, it would be difficult to survive. A mother’s love is synonymous with care, protection and nurturing. Our relationship with ‘mother’ represented our perception of love. As we progressed in life we learned that love means taking care of our own well-being.

Love spreads to others in a healthy way. It is like the knowledge that teachers share with their students. At the end of the class, the teacher retains the knowledge and the students gain knowledge. Love is like the teacher’s knowledge, where it should be shared, not given at one’s own expenses. The more you share love, the more love you will get.

Your life today is not a dress rehearsal of another life you will have later. Live it with a lot of love!

LOVE IS...

- staying together no matter what
- having someone to talk to
- not eating alone at night
- having a shoulder to cry on
- always beautiful
- a hot chocolate in winter
- always warm and fuzzy
- infinite
- colourful rainbow in the sky
- a deep blue ocean
- beautiful songs to the ears
- a hard solid rock
- diamond which cuts through glasses
- the waves
- millions of stars shining at night
- sharing yourself with others
- not thinking of yourself all the time
- feeling the pain which is not yours
- a smile that touches the heart
- waking up with someone next to you
- worrying about every little things
- like a warm blanket
- hot and spicy
- cold and freezing
- being sexy...

and the list goes on....

What can I say?
It's definitely OK to FALL in LOVE

A SURPRISE!!

I do get the most unexpected surprise in my life when I heard a friend of mine is getting married. I keep on telling myself that Uyean is getting married 4 days. After it registered in my mind I was excited and eager to attend the wedding. Can't imagine her in a bridal finery... Back in campus, she was always in jeans, shirts or t-shirts. She was a bit tomboyish and 'brutal', she seemed not to be interested in matter of the heart. I will definitely go to her wedding! This is a chance of a lifetime to see her sits quietly on the dais and smiles coyly to all the guests present ^_^ (If she is going to have 'bersanding")

I also heard news from a long lost friend of mine in Sarawak. She's a doctor now. It's been almost 10 years... I've lost contact of her since she changed her numbers. She told me another friend ,who is also a doctor is getting married. Well... well... looks like one by one... my friends are leaving their single life...

Shah... Looks like Uyean had broken the chain.
Wonder who's going to follow her step next
Red... will u be next? Come down South n we'll go to uyean's wedding 2gether
Me???
Well... I'm still looking K

STAYING HEALTHY

There are a few simple ways of how a person can stay healthy.
Firstly, we must exercise regularly. We can go jogging in the park every morning or at least, three times a week.
Besides that, we must have a balanced diet. Do make sure that we have carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals in our meals. Other than that, we should also avoid oily and fatty food. Yes, those delicious hamburgers and fried chicken are in fact bad for health. Instead we should eat more fruits and vegetables. The high fibre in them is good for us and prevents constipation. Then, we must avoid consuming too much sugar. This will cause diabetes.
It is also a wise idea to go for check-up at least once a year. In this way, we will know if there is anything wrong with us. It is always easier to treat a disease in its early stage.
Finally, do not smoke. I am sure everyone knows that smoking is hazardous to health and may cause cancer.

IT'S HOLIDAYS...

What r the things people normally do during holidays? Go for a nice and relaxing vacation with family? Stay at home and get that much needed sleep and rest? Meet friends and waste the night away together? Continue working at home though u r suppose to take a break?
Well... it's up to the individuals as to how they should fill the holidays. Spending some money taking the family for a trip to a nice and relaxing spot is ok. U don't need to go abroad to enjoy the breeze and the sun (if u can't afford to...)
I hope those who rtaking a little break from work this November and the coming December will enjoy themselves. Have a great hoilidays guys...

BEING 30!!!

When u reached the age of 30 what do u think of? Do u look back and wonder about the things u've done and yet 2 fulfill? So... what r ur great achievements so far? What have u done when u were still in the 20s ( the zone where u r still considered YOUNG!?) Were they satisfying and fulfilling? Are u going 2 miss ur younger days??? Age r just numbers! What's important is what u feel deep down in ur heart. I'm 30! And... I'm proud of my age. It shows my maturity and the experience I've gained in life. I would never wish 2 go back as I think what I've been through so far were the greatest days... weeks... months... and years... of my life. I'm always looking forward to what'll happen in the future. It's no use muddling and regretting the past!!! Being 30 is like stepping into a new world. A world of the 30s where u'll get new and more exciting adventure in life.

At 30, do u think u've got most of the things listed below? If u do, then u've definitely achieved some of the great things in life.
1. Career (a great job that u love or sometimes hate...)
2. Cash (ur own money which u can spend on a shopping spree whenever u like... *wink*)
3. Car (nothing expensive. A modest, little thing that protects u from rains will do...)
4. Condominium (not restricted to condos only. Any house is better than not having one)
5. Communication aid (better known as mobile phone... the latest and most trendy ones...)
6. Computer (it'll help 2 have 1 as u can spend time on the net as frequently as u want!)

IT'S MOVIE HOUR

Today I am letting my boys and girls watch a movie. I know they are tired after long hours of answering exam questions this morning. So I think it's best to let them unwind with a funny animation 'BARNYARD'. Let them watch farm animals go about with their life at the barn. IF... they did not fall asleepin the middle of the story. I'm still struggling with their answer scripts. It's really tiring and challenging to mark their essays. At times I almost doze off while reading their essays zzz.... Oh... I do need to get myself anoher red ink pen. Maybe I'll get one after work *sigh*

GREAT CELEBRATION!!!

Finally... I can spare some time to write some thing here. The last few days were spent with celebrating Eid with family and friends. My family and I visited our relatives during the day, exchanging stories and enjoying the food served. Then, at night we were busy entertaining friends and relatives who came over to the house. There were so many of them, that it took me almost an hour to clean the dishes. At one time, I still haven't finish doing the dishes used by the previous visitors the next group had already arrived. Luckily the food was enough for everyone. Well... though it was tiring, I really enjoyed myself this Eid.

WHATEVER I...

Whatever I say
means more when
you listen.
Whatever I think
means more when
you understand.
Whatever I do
means more when
you are there.
Whatever happens to me
means more if
I can share it with you.
Thank you for
adding so much
to my life.

HAPPY NEWS
Yesterday, I was beaming with smiles when I read my favourite magazine, Galaxie. It seems that my 2 favourite South Indian actors finally tied the knots. It was unbelievable. I do watch Tamil movies once a while OK. Some of the movies are really good compared to bollywood movies which usually revolves around sad love, unrequitted love, sacrificing love ... The same old thing if u know what I mean...
Well... I don't read or undertand Tamil, so... I never knew that people have been speculating on their relationships for the past years. All I know is that, whenever I watched them together in movies, they really made a very compatible couple on screen. That's why I always hope they would end up together in real life. And they do! They are so sweet together *sigh* ^_^ Hope their marriage will last for a very long time.

DEEPA RAYA

Looks like once again we're celebrating 2 festivals together, Deepavali and Hari Raya. Hence, we have the name DEEPA RAYA. We're forever creative in inventing new names. Used to celebrate Raya with Chinese New Year, and we called it KONG XI RAYA. Maybe the next time we'll celebrate Raya with other festivals, THAI RAYA (Thaipusam + Raya), GAWAI RAYA (Hari Gawai + Raya), RAYA MAS (Raya + Hari Krismas). We'll just wait n see ^_^

The celebrations will be twice exciting and unforgetable. There'll be more open houses and crowds. Tomorrow is the start of my official break for DEEPA RAYA. I'll be off work for the next 10 days. What do u think I'll do? Go figure!

Finally... my new clothes for this coming Raya have arrived. Phewh! *sigh*

Selamat Hari Raya or Happy Eid Mubarak To all Muslims who happens to stop by at my blog. May U have the best celebration this year.

THE LAND OF STORYBOOKS

At evening when the lamp lit,
Round the fire the parents sit;
They sit at home and talk and sing,
And do not play at anything.

Now, with my little gun I crawl
All in the dark along the wall,
And follow around the forest track
Away behind the sofa back.

There, in the night, where none can spy,
All in my hunter’s camp I lie,
And play at books that I have read,
Till it is time to go to bed.

These are hills, these are the woods,
These are my starry solitudes;
And there the river whose brink
The roaring lions come to drink.

I see the others far away
As if in firelight camp they lay,
And I, like to an Indian scout,
About their party prowled about.

So, when nurse comes in for me,
Home I return across the sea,
And got to bed with backward looks
At my dear land of storybooks.

THE BEST THING: LOVE

We’ve been through rough times,
and the hardest may be
yet to come.
But remember… the best things
in life
don’t come easily.
Changes must sometimes be made,
and we must not be afraid
to make them.
For if we always remain the same,
we will fail to grow.
But, if we can grow…
Together…
we will have a love
that is known by
so very few

GREAT STORIES

Here are a few stories on good values taken from Aesop's Fables. Hope you'll enjoy reading them.

THE DOVE AND THE CROW

A dove, locked up in a cage, was congratulating herself on how many children she had hatched, when a crow came by and said,"stopboasting, my friend! The more young ones you have, the more slaves there will be for you to groan over."

We must have freedom to enjoy our blessings.

THE LIONESS

Once when all the beasts were arguing among themselves as to which of the animals could produce the largest number of whelps at birth, they went to the lioness and asked her to settle the dispute.

"And how many do you have at birth?" they asked.

"One," she said defiantly, "but that one is a lion."

No matter how much you have, never argue with quality.

THE CRAB AND ITS MOTHER

"Why do you walk so crooked, child?" said an old crab to her young one. "Walk straight!"

"Mother," the young crab replied, "show mw thw way, and when I see you moving straight ahead, I'll try to follow."

Actions speak louder than words

THE CREAKING WHEELS

As some oxen were pulling a wagon along a bumpy road, the wheels began to creak and make a tremendous noise, whereupon the driver cried to the wagon, "Brute! Why do you groan when those creatures who are doing all the work are silent?"

Those who cry the loudest are not always the ones who hurt the most.

THE FOX AND THE GRAPES

A famished fox crept into a vineyard where ripe, luscious grapes were draped high upon arbors in a most tempting display. In his effort to win a juicy prize, the fox jumped and sprang many times but failed in all his attempts. When he finally had to admit defeat, he retreated and muttered to himself, "Well, what does it matter anyway? the grapes are sour!"

It is easy to despise what you cannot get.

THE WOLF AND THE SHEPHERDS

A wolf looked into a hut and saw some shepherds enjoying a joint of mutton in great comfort.

"If they had caught me enjoying such supper." he remarked, "there'd be certain hell to pay."

Men often tend to condemn others for the very things that they themselves practice.

INGATAN UNTUK SEKELIAN UMAT

SAMA2 LAH KITA INGAT MENGINGATI ANTARA SATU SAMA LAIN.... INSYAALLAH..
JADIKANLAH INI SEBAGAI RENUNGAN KITA BERSAMA
This is very intresting !!!
Di dalam hidup manusia, yang penting ialah BERKAT.
Bila hidup kita berkat, diri ini akan selamat.
Apabila diri selamat, rumahtangga jadi sepakat.
Apabila rumahtangga jadi sepakat, masyarakat jadi muafakat.
Apabila masyarakat jadi muafakat, negara kita menjadi kuat.
Apabila negara menjadi kuat, negara luar jadi hormat.
Apabila negara luar jadi hormat, permusuhan pun tersekat.
Apabila permusuhan tersekat, pembangunan pun meningkat.
Apabila pembangunan pun meningkat, kemajuan menjadi pesat.

TETAPI AWAS,
Apabila pembangunan meningkat, kemajuan menjadi pesat,
kita lihat bangunan naik bertingkat-tingkat.
Ditengah-tengah itu, tempat maksiat tumbuh macam kulat.
Apabila tempat-tempat maksiat tumbuh macam kulat,

KETIKA ITU,
manusia mula mengubah tabiat.
Apabila manusia telah mengubah tabiat,
ada yang jadi lalat ada yang jadi ulat.
Apabila manusia dah jadi ulat, sembahyang makin hari makin liat.
Apabila sembahyang jadi liat, orang baik ada yang bertukar jadi jahat.
Apabila orang baik bertukar jahat, orang miskin pula nak kaya cepat.
Apabila orang miskin nak kaya cepat, orang tua pula nak mati lambat.
Apabila orang tua nak mati lambat, tak dapat minum madu telan jerla minyak gamat.
Yang lelaki, budak budak muda pakai seluar ketat.
Semua nak tunjuk kuat.
Bila berjudi, percaya unsur kurafat.
Tapi hidup pula yang melarat.
Tali kasut dah tak berikat.
Rambut pun jarang sikat.

Yang perempuan,Pakai mini sekerat.
Suka pakai baju ketat... (apa dapat...)
Suka sangat menunjukkan pusat.
Hingga tak pedulikan lagi batasan aurat.
pulak yang singkat-singkat.Kadang-kadang ternampak benda 'bulat'.
Bila jadi macam ini, siapa lihat pasti tercegat.
Silap gaya jadi gawat, bohsia bohjan lagi hebat.
Duduk jauh berkirim surat.
Bila berjumpa, tangan berjabat.
Kemudian pakat lawan peluk siapa erat.
Masa tu, nafas naik sampai tersekat-sekat.
Usah peduli agama dan adat.
Usah takut Allah dan malaikat.
Yang penting apa kita nak buat?
Kita 'bukti' lah kita buat.
Akhirnya perut kempis dah jadi bulat.
Apabila perut kempis dah jadi bulat, maka lahirlahpula anak-anak yang tak cukup sifat.
Bila anak-anak tak cukup sifat, jam tu kita tengok bayi dibuang di merata tempat.

MAKNANYA KETIKA ITU, IBLIS MULA MELOMPAT.
Dia kata apa? Habis manusia dah masuk jerat.
Habis manusia telah tersesat.
Inilah dia fenomena masyarakat.
Oleh itu wahai saudaraku dan para sahabat,
Marilah kita pakat mengingat,
dunia hari ini makin singkat,Esok atau lusa mungkin kiamat,
Sampai masa kita semua akan berangkat! .
Berangkat menuju ke negeri akhirat.
Di sana kita akan ditanya apa yang kita buat.
Masa tu, sendiri mau ingat.
Umur mu banyak mana , berapa banyak kamu buat ibadat...?
Zaman muda mu, apa yang telah ka mu buat...?
Harta benda anda, dari mana anda dapat...?
Ilmu anta, adakah anta manafaat...?

Sebagai sesama insan sama2lah ingat mengingati sesama insan!!!
Semoga ianya dapat mengingatkan kita supaya segera meninggalkan maksiat dan memperbanyakkan ibadat.

A SWEET STORY OF SINCERETY

Someone forwarded this sweet and touching story to me through e-mail. I want to share it with others as I really think it carries a deep sense of values and love. Maybe after reading it we can learn invaluable lesson. Here is the story...

Once, there used to be a young man who loves to spend his time at the library and read books and novels. One day, while reading a novel, he found a girl’s name and address written on a page of the novel. Written there… “Catrina… lonely and need a friend”

The man was touched and decided to write a letter to the girl. He wrote a letter stating that he wanted to be friends with her. A few days went by, and he received a reply from her. She agreed to be his friend.

Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. Their friendship developed into something deeper. They had fallen in love. However, the two of them had never met. The young man really wanted to meet her. She felt the same too. Though they had never met each other, their love was so strong.

One day, the young man was called to battle to protect his country. He was worried that we would never have the chance to meet the girl. He wrote a letter telling her, “If we are really meant to be together and you still loves me, we will meet at the railway station where you live on the day the war is declared ended. I’ll be wearing my army uniform and holding a red rose. I’ll know you if you are holding a red rose too. Then, please let me take you to dinner and home to meet my parents.”

The young man left for war….

A few months later…

On the day the war was declared ended, the man went to the railway station where the girl lives holding a red rose in his hand. He looked at a girl after another whether she is holding a rose.

Suddenly, he saw a plump girl sitting on a wheelchair searching for someone around her. She had lost one of her arms and legs. She was holding a red rose in her good hand. He was surprised… but he braved himself and approached her.

“Catrina?” The girl turned to him and smiled. The young man handed the red rose to her and said, “I really missed you. Please accept this flower and my invitation to dinner. My parents are eager to meet you.” And kissed both her hands.
The girl said, “I don’t know what is happening, but a pretty lady gave me this flower just know. If you ask me to dinner and meet your parents, She told me to tell you she is waiting at a nearby café.”

How many people have a sincere heart like this young man? He looked at something deeper which is not the girl’s physical appearance but her HEART. He kept his promised and held on to his LOVE though at first he thought that the handicapped girl was Catrina.

Are men like him still exist in this world??? Accepting everything the way it is… with the purest and sincerest HEART???

Oo.. AIDILFITRI

Looking at people busy preparing for the coming Hari Raya reminds me of the things I used to do as a child. Celebrating Hari Raya was really exciting and fun. We (my siblings & me) would be waiting for mum to finish sewing our Baju Raya. After that we would have a mini fashion show displaying our new baju raya and shoes in front of mum & dad. Sometimes we would sleep with our new shoes as we can't bear the thought of being separated from them. Mum would be busy baking Kuih Raya or cakes. We would sit next to her thinking of breaking our fast and hoping to have a taste of the kuih. But, we were scolded by her as we were all fasting.

At night we would light up the kerosene lamps around the house and play fireworks. Raya eve was the best time as mum would be very busy cooking and preparing the Raya dish. We can smell the aroma of her Chicken Rendang and beef curry, which made our mouth water... Her ketupat will be left on the stove for a few hours until they are nicely cooked. Then we would hang them on a piece of stick to dry off some of the extra moisture. At night we would help mum clean the house, hang the new curtains and others. We could hardly sleep as we were eager for the Raya morning to come.

In the morning we would dorn ourself with new set of Raya attire and have all the delicious dish prepared by mum. Afterwards we would go around the village from one house to another with the intention of visiting the people. But, they know that our main motive was to collect as many Duit Raya as we can. Once we were home, we would start counting our Duit Raya and thinking of what to buy with them :D

Hmm... those were the days where we were able to collect duit raya instead of giving it. However, now... I'm the one who have to part with some of my bonus and hand them to the children... Well... that's what u call payback hehehe.... *sigh*

SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI TO ALL, ESPECIALLY TO MY FRIENDS WHO HAPPEN TO READ THIS BLOG. MAAF ZAHIR BATIN ^_^

THE WORLD

Great, wide, beautiful, wonderful world,
With the wonderful water around you curled,
And the wonderful grass upon your breast –
World, you are beautifully dressed,

The wonderful air is over me,
An the world wind is shaking the tree,
It walks on the water and whirls the mills,
And talks to itself on tops of the hills.

You friendly Earth! How far you go,
With the wheat fields that nod and rivers that flow,
With cities and gardens, and cliffs and isles,
And people upon you for thousands of miles!

Ah! You are so great and I am so small
I tremble to think of you, World, at all.
And yet when I said my prayers today
A whisper inside me seemed to say:
“You are more than the Earth, though you are such a dot;
You can love and think, and the Earth cannot!”

WHAT A BLOG!

Having this blog is simply a way of expressing my thoughts freely. It’s just for fun after a hard day at work. Writing a story or simple thoughts of the day. Sharing some interesting facts or photos. I’ve just changed my blog address so that I can still stay invisible to those who know me. I am also still trying to update my blog as frequently as I can. But… after a tiring day, your brain can just refuse to function. There are incidents where I sat in front of the computer and my mind just blocked. Can’t think of what to write. So… I was left staring at the screen for almost half an hour with a blank page!

Last night I actually fell asleep while updating this blog. The computer was one and I was still online. I started at 9.30 and did not know when I fell into a deep slumber. (That’s show how tired I was) Luckily I woke up at 2.45 a.m. and realized it. My eyes might pop-out if I get the internet bill this month *sigh*

My friend, redenclave is a little worried that she had been found out by me after she had successfully made herself invisible to her close friends for the past 2 years. But it was a pure coincident dear. Let’s keep our secrets together K :D

Well… today, there’s going to be a breaking of fast at the school hostel. I almost forget it. Since I had signed a survey agreeing to attend it, I better show myself at the majlis. Can’t make people wonder why I did not turn up. And can’t bear thinking about all those delicious food put to waste. Heard that we’ll be having nasi beriayani, YUMMY! I’ll do the disappearing act after devouring all the food hehehe…
I’ve asked those who agreed to attend last week, but they are not going to turn up tonight. Guess they’re too tired coz we go back at 4 p.m. today. Well… less people means more food ^_^

JOY OF LIFE
The sun is careering in glory and might
Mid the deep blue sky and the clouds so bright;
The billow is tossing its foams on high,
And the summer breezes go lightly by;
The air and the water dance, glitter and play-
And why should not I be as merry as they?

The linnet is singing the wild wood through,
The fawn’s bounding footsteps skim over the dew,
The butterfly flits round the blossoming tree,
And the cowslip and bluebell are bent by the bee:
All the creatures that dwell in the forests are gay,
And why should not I be as merry as they?

I baked some kuih raya today hehehe.... It was my first attempt baking a pineapple tart. Fortunately everything went well and my kuih was perfectly done! Of course I got a lot of help from my kakak angkat. Terima Kasih kak :D

I also sow my room's curtains. I really hate sewing coz it needs a lot of patience to finish a piece, and I don't have a lot of it when it comes to sewing. Luckily I used an electric sewing machine *sigh* thanks to my elder sister.

Saturday, I was involuntarily forced to redecorate all the three rooms at home by my sister. A back - breaking task especially when u r fasting!!!! We felt into a deep slumber after we've finished ZZZZZZ.....

Tomorrow is school day! Ooo... I'm having some of those monday blues symptoms already. Not to worry it's only for a week, then yahoo!!!!!!! a week break! Finally... I'll have that much needed rest and sleep. Can't wait.

10 CIRI UTAMA ORANG JOHOR… YE KE EKKK

Here are some unique 'trademarks' of a true blue Johorian. They were forwarded to my e-mail by a friend. I find that they are really interesting. As a Johorian myself, I can't deny these 'trademarks' as most of them are true. So... If you happen to meet or become friends with a Johorian, why don't u check for yourself wether the 'trademarks' are true or not. It can be fun...

1.They end 9 out of 10 sentences with Ekkk... Ekk ialah trademark orang Johor. Digunakan di hujung SETIAP ayat menggantikan tanda soal (question mark). Contoh :- Ni awak punyer ekk? Nama awak saper ekk ? Kenapa kite kaler tak cantik ekk ? Dan macam-macam ekk lagi.

2. They refer to Johor Bahru as Johor and not JB. Kalau orang di negeri Johor sebut Johor, it meant Johor Bahru (JB), the city dan bukan Johor, the state. Biasa digunakan oleh mereka yang tinggal di luar bandar Johor Bahru seperti di Masai-chusettes umpamanya. Contoh : Beb, gua nak turun Johor laa. Lu mahu ikut gua tak? So, if you ARE already in Johor, tak kira di daerah mana - if the locals kata nak pergi Johor, it means nak ke Johor Bahru. Jangan pulak buat lawak bongok berkata, "Eh, lu kan dah ada kat Johor?" Or worse, jangan memandai nak tambah ekk with that question.

3. They pronounce Muar as MUOR. (kena juih bibir sikit) In fact you pronounce everything that ends with "AR" as "OR".Contoh : Aku kena pakai seluor besor untuk main bolor kat Muor besok. (Aku kena pakai seluar besar nak main bola di Muar besok). besar, BESOR ? Slipper , SLIPPOR ? Aku tergelak. Lapo (lapar), penampor (penampar), ulor (ular), pagor (pagar) dan lain-lain.

4. They are brash with a CRAZY sense of humour. Honestly, belum pernah jumpa orang Johor yang serious or square to a T. Or cannot take a joke. Walaupun pendiam atau pemalu , but their sense of humour boleh tahan gak. Almost all of them are either loyar buruk or bigor. Baik di kampung mahu di Bandar.

5. Diorang ada ENDUT. Kalau tak pernah berendut, sure pernah ada endut or busuk-busuk pun teringin nak ada endut. Contoh ayat : Haa... kau dah ada endut yer ? Kau pergi berendut kat mana ? Orang berendut dia pun nak berendut.

6. Diorang Makan Gula Tarik, Sagun, Gula Kandy, Bobotok... . Dah lama tak tengok atau makan gula tarik, sagun or kandy. Ada lagi ke bebenda ni kat Johor ?

7. Pernah (or berangan nak) jadi Mat Rock .

Both kulit dan isi. Normally orang buat telur pindang ni for special occasion, seperti majlis perkahwinan. Zaman dulu-dulu, you can tell the social class of the tuan rumah - normally orang kaya-kaya jer buat telur pindang ni sebab ianya rumit dan makan masa berjam-jam therefore menggunakan kos yang tinggi.

9. Tidur atas LECA (rhyme with letak and baca, the non-baku way). Baju simpan dalam GEROBOK. Tido pakai GEBOR.

10. They never watch RTM sebab semua cerita dah tengok kat TV Singapore! When I was growing up, prang cukup suka tengok TV Singapore sebab iklan dia semua dari overseas, very menarik. Besides the cerita yang terkinilah. Well, TV Singapore cuma dapat ditengok oleh penduduk JB dan kawasan yang sewaktu dengannya. As you go further up north (of Johor), you can see aerial TV semua setinggi pokok kelapa - semata-mata nak dapatkan siaran from Singapore!

TODAY'S DEAL

Yup! Today I had the chance to weigh myself and I lost a kilo. NO!!!!
If this continues I’ll definitely look like a moving skeleton, Freaky huh! *shivers*
Hopefully after Hari Raya I’ll be able to gain my weight back, at least a kilo.

Well… let’s see what’s new today?

I was supposed to go to the bank after work and pay my car loan, but I managed to make myself sleep through the day and woke up just in time for the bank to close. Guess I’ll just do it next week.

I went through my photo albums and down the memory lane…

The photos were taken when we lepak at the Merdeka Square after our final exam. We spent the whole day going around KL. Shopping, eating and having LOTS of fun that day.

I have lots of sweet memories with my friends in UM when we were in our Pre-Esl and TESL years. Those were the best days of my life. We used to have a lot of funs doing stuffs together. We spent a lot of time lepaking at the faculty’s stairs chatting, gossiping, doing our assignments, observing people passed by and …

Wonder what u guys r doing right now?

I guess the married ones r busy entertaining the family and the SINGLE ones (like me!) are really enjoying life and spending our hard earned money :p

Thinking of staying up late tonight, watch some movies or surf the net or something… don’t have to wake up early for work tomorrow, I’ll just indulge myself with extra sleep (if my mum allows it!)

IT'S TIME TO FAST!!!

Hmm… it’s fasting month. Looks like I’ll be getting slimmer(my sister prefers to describe me as skinny) this year ;-( hopefully not!

My weight is decreasing each year. Last year I lost 1kg and never gain it back. Others might think losing a kilo in year is nothing but for me it’s a MAJOR thing as I am underweight (that’s what people been telling me, they are right!) I’m not ANEROXIC k! (just in case if u r wondering)
As far as I can remember I’ve been losing weight but never gaining them back… If ever my sister happens to hold my hands, she’ll say that it’s like holding a stick as she can only feel my bone. There’s no extra FAT in me!

I’ve been keeping myself from freezing every day in the staffroom due to the non-existing fat in me.

Since Hari raya is coming, everybody is busy promoting, selling, buying and ordering kuih raya, baju raya, pinggan mangkuk raya and macam-macam lagi…:D
It seems that everyone has a thing to sell… and everyone is eager to buy!
Mmm… I still haven’t get my baju raya. Hopefully I will not get them on raya’s eve! :(

I wonder…. what will I eat for the breaking of fast today?
A hot creamy mushroom soup with some hot from the oven garlic bread?
A steamy and hot fried noodles with a lot of prawns in it?
A hot and spicy Seafood Tom Yam with kerabu mangga?
A big glass of cold and refreshing pink air sirap bandung?

Well… I’ll just wait and see what my mum cooks. I’ll just enjoy anything she cooks without any complaints… I don’t eat much when breaking my fast, but I do drink plenty of plain water (a good recipe to look young) *wink* *wink*

NUMBERS! NUMBERS!

It’s been a while since i wrote my last thoughts on things here. Well... what to do? I was busy preparing the accounts of the school cooperative as they are needed to be sent for auditing. Crazy huh! An English language teacher preparing all the needed accounts on her own… I can see numbers in anything, even my sleep. They are practically flying and swimming around me…. I don’t know how I survive this task for the last 3 years as I hated numbers and mathematics. I used to hate maths in school and if I scored an A for it, it was like a miracle. I also used to get less than 15 marks for my additional mathematics.. *sigh* *wink*

Anyway… hi friends, how are you? Hope everyone are happy and cheerful…

Just got these photos. They were taken when we had our mini reunion in April 2006. Though only a few of us can make it,it was fun meeting old friends and catching up on the lastest news or gossips...
Hopefully the plan to have our next reunion in Pangkor will come true....

Shireen, I'm definitely not at the top of the list, like u, I'm single and very much lovin it.
We'll wait for Shah k! let her be the first to break the cycle hehehe... she'll kill me if she read this!
sorry Shah... Shireen - ayu but sexy...(^-^)
Shah- chatty and all smiles...
Sue - sweet and cute...
Rizal - what can i say bout him?!!

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Music is part of life. We always hear to different types of music as we go about our daily activities. What is music? Well, everyone has his or her own definition of music which might differ from others.
For me, my definition of music is sound that is pleasing to the ears. Pleasing does not only refer to pretty or beautiful sounds. It can also be noisy, loud, raucous or anything but pleasing. Any sounds that is pleasing to someone is music to the ear.
Music can also be the sound that you want to hear as music, which includes any sound that is pleasing to the ear. The sound of storm, rain, the roar of waterfall or chirping of birds can be music to one’s ears.
Now, let us be silent for a moment. Listen! We can hear different sounds around us. Well, these sounds can be music if we want them to be.
For me, music is an art. Just like other work of arts. Music can have universal appeal and be remembered for hundreds of years. As a great piece of art, music encourages repeated listening, performance and study. Let’s take the late Tan Sri P.Ramlee’s music as an example. He composed the song ‘Getaran Jiwa’ and ‘Dendang Perantau’ in the 60s and 70s, but it is still played in this new millennium. Modern musicians are eager to play the old music well, and also compose better music which can compete with the old music.
One can explore the subtleties of expressions and depth of meaning in music. Furthermore, music form all cultures. It is a reflection of the society in which it is created. For example, the alternative and contemporary music. Alternative music is mostly preferred by teenagers because it suits their rebellious nature. The way they think and dressed are also influenced by the music. Music helps to shape the character and future of that society. However, as people grow older they would choose a slower and more pleasing music which suits their moods.
Music is also a mean of expressing oneself. It is an expressive language where it can communicate and express feelings and images as well as generates aesthetic responses. Music can generate such feelings of joy. Sorrow, pain, love, merriment, sadness and others. If the music is slow, sad and melancholic, it represents pain, sadness or sorrow. If we are happy we usually listen to a lively and happy music.
Music can stimulate bodily movements such as foot tapping, yelling or shouting, crying or head banging. Awe always react differently to different types of music. It can be sentimental and romantic, or simple yet beautiful. We are able to recall sad or special memories and pleasant association when we listen to music. Yet, it can be harsh and complex, noisy and also reflecting certain aspects of our modern and technological society.
Music serves many functions. It affects our moods and feelings by entertaining, enriching and relaxing us. It also helps people to escape momentarily from the real world. Music can move the mind, body and soul in a wide variety of ways. It stimulates responses from boredom to excitement, or love to hate. In certain ways, it has the ability to change people’s feelings and attitudes.
Music is changing as the society it serves is also changing, because people’s needs and tastes change. People in the 60s might enjoy listening to rock n’ roll, but today’s generation prefer hi hop and rock music. Music also changes because of the new or refined instruments and new ways of creating music. In this modern world, musician can use computers to compose new music which produces new sounds. Lastly, artists innate need to grow, to advance in knowledge and understanding, and to stretch the possibilities in performance skills also caused change in music.
Music varies through out the world. It comes in a lot of different styles and has different effects on an individual. Due to the variety of music in the world, we can choose our style of music and live with it though others might not accept it.
Music is part of our life and it colours our life in many different way. People who live without music is like living in the world of emptiness. They cannot enjoy the different sounds which create and formed beautiful music. There will be no excitement, no colours and no feelings in life. Therefore, let’s enjoy music as long as we live for we shall always remember there is no life without music. Let us fill our lives with the beauty of music.

SEASONS IN THE SUN

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We’ve known each other
since we were nine or ten
Together we’ve climbed hills and trees
Learn to love and ABC’s
Skinned are heart and skinned our knees

Goodbye my friend it’s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I’ll be there

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we’ve climbed
Were just season out of time

Goodbye papa please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You’ve tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along

Goodbye papa it’s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them, I’ll be there

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the songs
Like the seasons have all gone

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the songs
Like the seasons have all gone

Goodbye Michelle my little one
You gave me love and help me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground

Good bye Michelle It’s hard to die
When all the birds singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wished that we both could be there

We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we’ve climbed
Were just season out of time

We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the songs
Like the seasons have all gone

SCHOOL DAYS

I can still remember the time when I was in secondary school. In form 1 my class was on the top floor of the furthers block of the school. The thought of walking to class from the gate entrance and up those flights of stairs with a bag of heavy books every afternoon was really unbearable. Sometimes my friends and I were almost crawling up the stairs.
When we were up on the top floor, we were just too tired to go down to the canteen for recess or even to the ladies as it is located on the ground floor.

When I was in Form 4 & 5 my class was also on the top floor, but the building was overlooking the school field which was near the school gate. (^-^) It was a great blessing for my friends and I, as we don’t have to rush out just to catch the bus….
The class was always noisy as there were 24 boys and only 2 girls in it. However, those boys were the best! They were always there to help us, girls with almost any thing.

Now, looking at my own students I sort of missed those days where my friends and I would spend our time discussing different things and issues… Arguing and debating with ours teachers during the lessons… asking so many questions to the teachers and each other looking for answers… complaining about small things to the teachers… fighting and arguing in class with the boys over mundane stuff… and a lot more…

I can still remember all my teachers in school… they were the BEST! I remember Some of them for being kind, sweet and caring. I also remember them for being strict and firm.
Now… I am given a really great honor of working with some of my former teachers, and one of them happens to be the Principal in my school…

Now… I know the things that my former teachers felt and experienced when they were teaching their students. And I hope one day some of my students would become a teacher and experience the things I am experiencing now….

SMT HOCKEY TEAM

I'm not that good in hockey but then, this year I am the Manager for the school's boys' hockey team (^_^). I can say that my boys are all good and spirited players (though sometimes they do look lost on the field). They've done their best to go to the final and they did. Unfortunately they only managed to get second place. But, hey it's better than getting nothing at all.... especially after I've spent quite a sum of money to feed them for three days!!!!

Well boys... congratulations and well done on the good work.

Shah.. thanks for keeping me company for three days...

Khai... thanks for coming and watching my boys in action...

Moon... watch your words, we don't want u to get another green card.

Pak Din... the stiches on your forehead were the best prize u got for going to the final (^.^)

SEDIKIT RENUNGAN

Tinta ini mencatat apa yang terlihat di ruang mata
Dari jendela ku lihat bangunan
Bertingkat bercahaya
Kerdipan lampu malam
Jika semua bangunan ini milikku wahai adinda
Aku manusia terkaya di kota raya
Jika bilik-bilik kantor dijadikan pejabat kita
Yang mana satu kita gilir ganti dalam usia sependek ini
Jika bangunan terbentang luas bagai banjaran titiwangsa
Apa nilainya pada kita
Sekadar mengira untung rugi dari sewanya
Jika itu sudah menjadi milik kita
Istana mana yang bisa kita tinggal
Pilihlah, hati yang tidak bisa puas
Akan kita kejar lagi bangunan
pencakar langit di kota-kota lain
Akhirnya kita keletihan
Dalam mengejar bayang-bayang
Kemewahan sementara
Akhirnya kita sesat di tengah-tengah kota
Mencari jalan mana untuk pulang ke kamar kita sebenar
Dadaku makin berdenyut kepedihan
Ke pancaran cahaya, dari bangunan mewah ibu kota kuala Lumpur
Dalam impian,jika semua ini milikku
Keluargaku akan terkaya di kota indah Malaysia
Akhirnya aku keseorangan jua
Membawa kemiskinan pelaburan dosa pahala, yang belum menentu
Keseorangan di liang lahad
Mohon restu pelaburan di dunia dulu
Akhirnya milikku sebenar,
Kain-kain kapan pembungkus
jasad-jasad kerdil
Yang di bawa hanya dosa pahala'

SHAH'S UNREQUITTED LOVE

LOVE AND HATE

I hate you because I love you
Sometimes I wonder
This feeling I have for you
Is it LOVE or HATE?

I love you for the sweet
M.E.M.O.R.I.E.S
Shared together sometimes ago
And I love the charming smile

But I hate you
For leaving behind
A broken heart and
Shattered dreams

And I hate you
For making me realize
The love between you
And me is impossible

The only real reason of why
I hate you is because
I LOVE YOU
